South East Region win 2024 Senior Winton Cup

Congratulations to the South East Region Team for winning the Senior Winton Cup on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2024.

We had 308 fencers competing over the 2 days.

A big thanks to all the volunteers who make this event possible.

Also that all qualifiers for the BYCs will get emails directly from British Fencing once all the Regions have finished their competitions.

THE VETERANS WINTON CUP RETURNED TO LILLESHALL SPORTS CENTRE THIS YEAR OVER THE WEEKEND OF 23RD 24TH SEPTEMBER.

THE SOUTH EAST SENT A FULL TEAM IN ALL 6 WEAPONS:

MENS FOIL: PAUL VEAZEY, MIKE THOMAS, NICK PAYNE, ALEX ELLISON

WOMENS FOIL: JANE CLAYTON, KATE O’CONNELL, GILLIAN WORMAN, CATHERINE CASSAI

MENS EPEE: SIMON PINK, TIM BUZWELL, WILL MILLER, KOLA AWANYALE

MENS SABRE: EMMANUEL THEROND, NICK FLETCHER, MO MANSOORI

WOMENS SABRE: JACKIE ESJAME-HEATH, CAROLINE MARTIN, DOMINIQUE KENNETT

10 REGIONS TOOK PART IN THE EVENT AND THE SOUTH EAST TEAM CONVINCINGLY CAME OUT ON TOP, WITH VICTORIES OVER ALL 9 REGIONS.

SOUTH EAST ALSO WON THE TROPHIES FOR MENS SABRE, MENS FOIL, WOMENS FOIL AND WOMENS EPEE.

THIS IS THE 7TH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY FOR THE SOUTH EAST TEAM AT THIS EVENT.

THIS WAS A FANTASTIC TEAM EFFORT FROM EVERYONE INVOLVED AND SHOWS THE STRENGTH OF VETERANS FENCING WITHIN THE SOUTH EAST REGION.
